Keys to Success with the Singing Eagles
Class Expectations
A higher sense of professionalism and proper behavior are expected in all choral classes and events. Students are expected to follow the rules outlined below:
· Listen carefully and raise your hand to speak.
· Obey all school rules and follow the APS Code of Conduct.
· Participate in all classroom activities and attend all after-school rehearsals and concerts.
· Be on time to class with necessary materials (instrument, music, pencil, agenda, and notebook).
· Be courteous and show respect to others.
· No food, candy, drinks, or gum in the classroom.
· Report any inability to sing, due to illness or injury, before class begins on that day.
Your participation level for that day will then be determined by the teacher.
· Proper concert attire must be worn during a performance.
Consequences:
· 1st Offense: Warning
· 2nd Offense: Lunch Detention/ Phone Call Home
· 3rd Offense: After School Detention/ Phone Call Home
· 4th Offense: Student Behavioral Referral
(Failure to attend Detention will also result in an office referral.)
Required Classroom Materials
· 2 Pencils (Daily)
· $12 for Chorus Shirt
Grading Policy
The student’s grade will be determined by the following:
40% Performances (Fall Music Festival, Winter & Spring Concerts
30% Summative Assessments (Test & Quizzes)
20% Formative Assessments (Classwork/Homework, Informal performances, rehearsals)
10% Preparedness (Posture, Technique, Self-Evaluations & Peer Evaluations)
*Performances: Attendance and participation in performances throughout the year is mandatory. Students and parents will receive a calendar of events and information.
